EEX Service linking the UK and Turkey

26.10.04 The Hamburg-based Hapag-Lloyd Container Line (HLCL) will be offering its customers a direct link between the UK, Greece and Turkey with the European Express Service (EEX) from November 3rd 2004. Along with its partners Lloyd-Triestino and Hatsu Marine, HLCL has decided to serve Thamesport on the English east coast in future. Four ships, including two Hapag-Lloyd units, are deployed in the EEX Service, calling at Hamburg, Thamesport, Antwerp, Lisbon, Taranto, Istanbul, Thessaloniki, Izmir, Taranto and Hamburg. The change in the port rotation will benefit the customers of Hapag-Lloyd (UK) in particular. The transit time to Turkey, which is experiencing an economic boom, is twelve days and to Thessaloniki 14 days.
